Our clay comes to us dug directly from the pit at the Shaw Brick factory in Nova Scotia
A heavy job. The clay comes in 50 lb bags. Tim slices it, dips it in water and puts it in a large garbage can overnight. He runs it through the pug mill three times to blend it. To prepare 1 lb of clay, he moves 12 lbs!
Our clay being extruded from a pugmill during processing. The only addition we make during processing is the inclusion of a fine silica sand to cut down on the clay’s shrinkage.
